I wanted to do a video comparing these 2. I understand I am comparing apples and oranges in a way. For my use I had originally gotten my Ipad as a netbook/sketchpad replacement. The sketching capabilities were OK but without wacom and a blunt pogo stylus it made it a bit hard to use all the time. I did a bit of research online to find a slate pc that was small like the Ipad and easy to carry with full windows (came with XP and I changed it to windows 7). With all the rage of slates coming out this year I was not sure if I wanted to dish out more money I do not have. Plus with the all the slate hype I have been seeing that the trend is to drop the stylus all together to copy the Ipad which does not work for me. I needed something that I could sketch but not have to take my larger tablet pc. I love my toshiba tablet pc, but it is heavier, takes a little while to turn on and it is a much bigger device that would not fit in my purse. When I found the Ls800 it filled the perfect niche I was after plus the price was right. If you look for motion computing ls800’s on ebay you can find them for about $200+. You can also buy 12 inch models for a bit more, but I wanted small and portable. The ls800 has worked out great in combination with the Ipad. The ipad is great to surf the net, check email, do pretty much everything I did on my netbook. But I can keep both on but draw on a wacom accurate screen and save it. Art programs I suggest that work great on the ls800: -SAI -Open Canvas …

@LatinVixen Ah, thank you! I think I’ll invest in one of those motion computers, it looks like a very hand piece of technology to own.

Hi! I appreciate your being so patient in replying us all here. Hey, on top of it could run the Photoshop CS3, doesn’t it experience lagging. After watching your video I put this Ls800 on top of my list to buy for a flatting job alternative for the cintiq 12 since the price is a good deal.

@taverlyn they do heat up as they do not have a fan. Get a cooling mat, I got a cheap one at walmart for like $25 and it solves that problem. Runs off one usb and 2 fans, no more heating problems. Does not drain the battery either.

@DantendoDS very easy

@avedelamedianoche just posted a video on how to add the ssd
There are a few sellers online, even craigslist has amazing deals.
August 30, 2010
@synergi05 ssd does not fix a lag problem in PS, that is just because the processor is older and the video card isn’t awesome. The screen is pretty nice, you can view up from quite a few angles before it becomes hard to see.

@peterpulmonary1 yeah also 2k plus in price. I went older to be able to afford it.

@janorre it is full wacom so yes full pen pressure. It runs all those programs you listed without a problem. It is a normal laptop so yes you can run it while it is connected or off a battery.
August 30, 2010
@janorre The computer does get super hot. I keep it cool but putting it on a cooling matt, or attaching a little fan on the side. I will post video on how it works. If the computer gets too hot, specially outside it will shut down to prevent data loss.

@fluddly you have to install it. It is a program you have to buy.
August 30, 2010
@fredpac you sure can. I have cs3 in mine at the moment.
August 30, 2010
Hi! This stuff is cool LS800. Can that run the Photoshop CS3 or higher?
August 30, 2010
Did you have to install the sketch pad onto your motion computer, or does it come with it?
August 30, 2010
is the motion not slow? and will it get hot after awhile? I was wondering coz I wanna buy it and I’m from the philippines which is a tropical country and is very hot. but most of the time I’m in my room with an aircon XD
August 30, 2010
OMG!!! THanks you’re an angel from heaven!!! I’ve been looking for a tablet pc I think I’ll buy this. Is this like a normal laptop and can like be charged while using it? and is it slow? I dont care what the requirements is as long as I can use a paint program ( mainly gimp, sai, photoshop, open canvas) with no problem and is there really a pen pressure? please reply!!!
August 30, 2010
the more recent tablets by motioncomputing are probably even better.
very enlightening video
August 30, 2010
Great video. Can you tell me about the screen clarity? Is it grainy or milky? and how is the view angles? It looked like from your video when it was laying flat that it wasn’t washing out. Also, did the SSD fix your lag problem with photoshop?
August 30, 2010
How did you add the SSD? Who do you recommend as a seller? Good warrenty? Scratches? Dings on screens? thanks!
August 30, 2010
I dig it but how hard was it to get windows 7 installed?
August 30, 2010
wow, I was looking all over youtube for a comparison like this~thanks for making this video!
However, I have one question (well for now anyway). I’m more interested in the Motion Computer LS 800 for its WACOM technology. Does this computer have any issues with heating-up? I know that it’s inevitable that devices like these will heat up after a while, but I was wondering how long before that will happen?
Thanks =)

I know you’ve heard this a hundred times but… I love women who are as smart as they are attractive. Godbless you, LV. Also, you make great fursuits. My old roommate has one of your suits – Hiromi Kitsune / Hiromi Vixen. At any rate, you’re a talented artist, too. So… yeah. Smart and hot. No complaints here! Keep on doin’ yer thang! You rock, girl.
